About Me
My name is James Piggott. I am a 23 year old Freelance Artist, living in Detroit, Michigan. I attended the College for Creative Studies where I learned numerous skills of art and design.
I pride myself on my speed and ability to get things done on time and can sketch and draw quickly and accurately, especially when it comes to the human figure. I have pretty much mastered Adobe Photoshop but have also become quite versed in Adobe Illustrator, Corel Painter, and Macromedia Flash.
Though most of my time is taken up by art, I have other interests. I am a huge Futurama fan, often reciting lines from the show in real life at appropriate moments. I am also a huge video game fan having played them since I was 6 years old. I consider myself a nerd, in that, I spend a good bit of my free time looking up trivia about science fiction and information about computers.
My advice for all up-and-coming art students is to draw every day. Look at as much reference as possible and learn how to draw anything, whenever you need to. Look at what artists have done today and in the past, expand on what has been done before and create new and exciting things.
About CCS
The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is an artschool in the city of Detroit, Michigan. As seen in this picture from above, it occupies one city block. The school is located just one block behind the Detroit Museum of Art and the school is know for its unique "tinker-toy" building. The school has several departments to cater to any type of artist and his/her needs creatively.
The staff, particularly in the Illustration department, are terrific and they are probably the most important part of the school. My include (in order in which I took them):
